CourtVision: The Year in Scoring - The Triangle Blog - Grantland

CourtVision: The Year in Scoring - The Triangle Blog - Grantland: "NBA players attempted 201,608 field goals this season; they made 91,282 of them. In other words, the league shot 45.3 percent from the floor. These are pretty standard numbers for a full 82-game season, but there were two noticeable trends in NBA shooting patterns. First, compared to last year’s shortened and condensed season, the league was more efficient on offense. The 45.3 field goal percentage was a slight increase from last year, when the league made 44.8 percent of its shots.

Borussia Dortmund 4-1 Real Madrid | Champions League semi-final first leg match report | Football | The Guardian

Borussia Dortmund 4-1 Real Madrid | Champions League semi-final first leg match report | Football | The Guardian: "First Bayern Munich, now Borussia Dortmund: for a second successive night a Spanish side conceded four goals in Germany and that sense of a power-shift was enhanced. Real Madrid at least take an away goal with them, giving the kind of hope in the second leg that Barcelona have been denied, but an astonishing four-goal display from Robert Lewandowski all but destroyed them."

Magic must keep losing in order to win - OrlandoSentinel.com - GREAT ANALYSIS

Magic must keep losing in order to win - OrlandoSentinel.com:
I realize nobody is willing to admit Magic management probably deliriously drenched each other with champagne after the team secured the worst record in the league and the best odds in the upcoming draft lottery with Wednesday night's season-ending loss to the Miami Heat. But if everybody were being bluntly honest, Magic GM Rob Hennigan would have dispatched this message to fans Thursday during his exit interview with the media:
"We were pretty bad this year, but hopefully next year we'll be even worse!!!"

More Thoughts on Boston Marathon "Killers" - a bigger picture

I sincerely hope that this Boston Marathon heinous act of violence will help our society distinguish between TERRORISM vs "OUTRAGEOUS/INEXCUSABLE" acts of violence committed on the US soil. Let's take a moment of reflect on following question: WHY ARE SUCH ACTS OF "RANDOM/INEXPLICABLE" acts of violance BY VERY YOUNG, AMERICANS (Boston Marathon murderers were/are as American as you can get...no religious/jihad motives behind these events) HAVE BECOME AN AMERICAN PHENOMENON? What are, as Americans, are doing wrong? Or, to rephrase: why are such acts becoming increasingly common in the US, while being virtually non-existent in other countries? (PLEASE NOTE: I AM NOT LOOKING FOR A WAY TO FIND AN EXCUSE FOR WHAT THESE 2 KILLERS DID...HEINOUS...I AM SIMPLY TRYING TO BRING ATTENTION TO A BROADER PROBLEM WE FACE AS A SOCIETY)

Boston Marathon "killers"

I hope people won't associate Chechnya with terrorism. These 2 kids (Boston murderers) could have been from ANYWHERE. They were simply born in Chechnya & came to the US as kids. The reason I mention Chechnya: RUSSIA HAS CONDUCTED A BRUTAL WAR (committed countless atrocities in Chechnya) WHICH RESULTED IN terrorist attacks by Chechens in Russia...in short, Russia has been painting Chechens as a nation of criminals/bandits/terrorists (which is no different to saying that all Muslims are TERRORISTS). MY POINT: please don't blame people of Chechnya, but rather these 2 individuals who seem(ed) to be as AMERICAN as an apple-pie (except having been born outside the US). These killings should be compared to all those random and insane mass killings committed by US kids/students in past several yrs rather than a TERRORIST ATTACK. Anyway, this is something I simply wished to share with people at large before irrational sense of hatred takes root. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THESE HEINOUS ACTS. But...They were/are simply 2 DISTURBED "kids" (yes, murderers) just like those at Columbine etc. If anything, we (Americans) should take a look at OUR SOCIETY that produces this sort of "alienation/mass violence" among youngsters, THEY SIMPLY HAPPENED TO BE MUSLIMS. But, these actions could have been equally committed by Catholics, Jews, Baptists, Hindus, etc, etc. THIS IS NOT A RELIOGION BASED TERRORIST ACT. THESE GUYS WERE/ARE AMERICAN.
